Lexington Update … SCGOP State EC Meeting TODAY!

Will Drew McKissick act today?

Published

on

The 4th Quarter SCGOP State Executive Committee meeting is usually a “sleepy” affair followed by a “Christmas Party” at the Governor’s Mansion.

Having only four meetings a year of the 46 County Republican State Executive Committee (and one being a “no business” holiday affair) is one problem … but today the SCGOP State Executive Committee faces another problem …

Why are there TWO Lexington County Republican Parties???

Well, there really isn’t two … but there is a “splinter group” in Lexington purporting to be the LCRP. This “faux” LCRP is actually out there raising donations under the auspices of being the actual LCRP … their leader is showing up at GOP events and holding himself out as the LCGP “Chairman” … and they have actually been endorsing candidates for office using the official LCRP branding.

It is absolute bizzarro world … and many believe it to be CRIMINAL.

Wouldn’t it be “criminal fraud” to go out there raising money saying you were the “Make A Wish Foundation” … and you really were not the “Make A Wish Foundation”? Can you go out there and gather “Toys for Tots” … and then take the toys to your kids at home? YES, it is a real problem and it should be discussed at today’s SCGOP State Executive Committee meeting in Columbia.

We have reported on this Lexington GOP issue several times HERE & HERE … but it is now appears to be coming to a head.

“It will fall into a state of disrepair, become a complete dumpster fire and essentially be a leper colony for the next year and a half,” McKissick said.

In its place, McKissick suggested that “sane Republicans” might end up creating separate GOP clubs in the Greenville area for people who want to stay focused on the core party functions of supporting Republican candidates.

“We will help them do that in every way,” McKissick said.

Post & Courier, July 8, 2021 (HERE)

Remember in 2021 when America FIRST Patriots – otherwise known as platform Republicans – voted out the RINOs in Greenville County and SCGOP Chairman Drew McKissick called them all “lepers” and vowed to establish “GOP clubs” to work around the duly elected leadership in Greenville and several other counties? (HERE, HERE & HERE)

Well, two and a half years later the “absolutely insane” Greenville mySCGOP group has been re-elected … and other America FIRST counties like Lexington have followed suit … but it appears Drew McKissick is still at it with his splinter group “GOP clubs”.

This time however, one Drew McKissick aligned “GOP club” in Lexington has taken it to a new level … they actually call themselves the “Lexington County Republican Party”. Like they are the real LCRP.

YES … WOW!

The “splinter group” GOP club in Lexington is basing their claim by saying that the duly elected Chair, Pamela Godwin, has been “recalled”.

[NOTE: This news outlet has requested a copy of the rules and applicable supporting documentation from the “splinter group” on several occasions with no response.]

The real problem however … the SCGOP Rules do not allow for “recall” of an elected party official … and this has been a longstanding position of Drew McKissick himself since being elected chair in 2016 … and there are no records of anyone ever being “recalled” in SCGOP history that we can find.

So, it appears no precinct Executive Committeeman (EC), no precinct President … and most assuredly no county convention (or state convention) elected official has ever been “recalled” despite numerous attempts to do so over the past few years. And each time it was attempted … Drew McKissick himself stopped it as a violation of SCGOP Party Rules … but that was for his supporters, and this time it is different. Rules for thee, but not for me? We shall see.

[NOTE: For example, it has been reported that several years ago the Chairwoman in Anderson County, Cheryl Teague-Cuthrell, was voted out UNANIMOUSLY by the Anderson Executive Committee … and Drew personally overruled the ousting stating that the SCGOP does not have any recall provisions for an elected chairman.]

This has been an ongoing issue for months now … since August … and reportedly Drew McKissick (as well as several party and elected officials) have confirmed privately that Pamela Godwin is still the Chair of the Lexington County Republican Party … and the “splinter group” is only a GOP club.

But the statement that Pamela Godwin remains the official Chair has not been made publicly by Drew since this mess was started by his “splinter group” … and you just can’t have a 2nd group calling themselves the official LCRP … can you? Not if you want to protect the GOP brand.

So the big question is will Drew McKissick act today at the SCGOP State Executive Committee meeting … or will Drew continue to kick this can down the road?

Numerous GOP leaders from across South Carolina are asking if we cannot protect the “brand” of the SCGOP … what good is the brand? If we are not a party of rule followers … what are we? If we don’t protect the election integrity of GOP party officials from our bi-annual ReOrg and County Conventions … have we abandoned all efforts for real Election Integrity?

OPENING A MASSIVE CAN OF WORMS: And if Drew flipflops and now allows for “recall” … can you imagine all the precincts, counties, and state delegates that may have buyer’s remorse and want to recall their current GOP party officials? It will become a full-time job of the SCGOP to handle recall efforts from top to bottom … in all 2,261 precincts and all 46 counties.

So, as the Governor and First Lady await the arrival tonight of the SCGOP State Executive Committee leaders from 46 counties … will any work be done to address this issue … or will there be faux precinct, county and state officials popping up all over South Carolina tomorrow … claiming to be the real deal?

Maybe even a new self-proclaimed SCGOP Chairman … wouldn’t that create turmoil in the SCGOP!!!

What a massive can of worms inaction could open up.

Stay tuned … an update tomorrow for sure.

Ephesians 4:2-3

Published

Unity of mission through humility, mutual respect and patience while recognizing boundaries and being able to put mission first creates a path to success in any undertaking. By stepping away from toxic behavior you model humility, refusing to contribute to gossip or drama protecting your character and influence. The scripture’s call to “make every effort” acknowledges that unity and peace require intentional mission oriented work, especially in a polarized environment.

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.”

Ephesians 4:2-3

To repeat from last Sunday (HERE), governments and leaders are part of His sovereign plan, even if imperfect. Our leaders’ responsibility is to govern justly, as their authority is a divine trust.

Choosing the Right Candidate: A Thoughtful Approach

(#1) Electable & (#2) Collaborative

Published

on

by Jeff Davis

As we head into the 2026 South Carolina Primaries next June 9th, Republican (and Democrat) voters will be faced with picking which Republican (or Democrat) they want to represent them in the general election. It will be a choice we each have to make among the available options … the 2, 3 or 5 candidates that filed and are on the ballot … and there is no “None Of The Above” option.  Sure, you don’t have to vote … but don’t complain later when you sat out the election.

We are seeing already … the jockeying by political consultants and their operatives to push their candidate (and tear down the opponents) … and the “PERFECTIONISTS” that complain about every candidate, but offer no solutions (and are not willing to run for office themselves).

A THOUGHTFUL APPROACH:  Selection of a candidate to support is not easy.  None of them are perfect, and how much can you really believe from what you hear on the campaign trail.  What we like to encourage is that everyone think critically and logically about candidates and their campaigns, and steer clear as best you can of the emotional knee-jerk reactions that often dominate the discussions.

IT IS NOT JUST THE CANDIDATE – LOOK AT THEIR TEAM:  While it’s tempting to focus solely on the candidate, it’s equally important to examine the people they surround themselves with. If you’re unaware of a candidate’s consultants (and their motivations), staff (and their roles), or the candidate’s supporters (who will inevitable have the ear of the candidate), it’s wise to hold off on offering your support. Ultimately, it’s not just about the candidate—it’s about their TEAM (or the “baggage” that comes with them).

We like to prioritize two key qualities when evaluating candidates:

(#1) Electability:  A candidate (a) willing to run for office and (b) capable of winning.  You may know the “perfect” person, but if they won’t run for office or are not capable of winning … what good are they?

(#2) Collaboration and Integrity:  A candidate open to working with The People, with the grassroots, willing to listen, eager to include The People as part of their TEAM, and genuinely committed to doing what’s objectively right for the people—not just themselves (or their monied special interest backers).  Here is where experience and judgment comes into consideration because you really don’t know what a candidate might do once elected.  We have helped candidates get elected – and then never spoken with them again (not by our choice).  Being lied to is a hard lesson to learn.

This process of selecting a candidate to back is both an art and a science, and while we may never find the “perfect” candidate, we can identify and support those who meet these two criteria and give us the best odds of promoting the conservative cause … at least until the next election when we will have another chance to try again.

THE TRUMP OF 2016:  Reflecting on the field of “candidates” in 2016 … and the original “candidate” DONALD J. TRUMP … I believe that original candidate TRUMP, embodied these qualities, and that approach has proven effective in helping Save America.

STOP LOOKING FOR A “POLITICAL SAVIOR”:  Most importantly, let’s remember, no candidate will save us. There is only one true “Savior”, and He is not running for office. Our work continues, so don’t think you are off the hook if your person gets elected.  But having the right people – dedicated TEAM players – in elected positions from top to bottom can make all the difference.

Be smart … be logical … don’t be emotional … and don’t just complain, complain, complain.

TRUMP Shares Nancy MACE Polling Lead for Governor

Mace Leads with 25% over Wilson at 17%

Published

on

TRUMP Truth Social Post (HERE)

The NANCY MACE campaign released polling numbers yesterday showing a commanding early lead in the South Carolina Governor’s Race … 25% MACE, 17% Alan Wilson, 10% Ralph Norman, 6% Pamela Evette, 3% Josh Kimbrell … with 38% Lean / Undecided.  You can see the full reports HERE & below.

The polling results show MACE separating herself from the crowd since officially launching her candidacy last week and announcing AUSTIN MCCUBBIN (HERE), the 2024 TRUMP Team Statewide Director, has joined her team.  This all seems to make MACE the early odds on favorite to win the Republican Primary next June 9th, 2026 … 294 days from today.

You can find more details on FITSNews (HERE & on X HERE) … but the real story broke when President TRUMP himself shared the MACE Polling Lead on his TRUTH Social (HERE) last night at 9:29pm.  When the POTUS shares your leading polling data with the world … that is a not so subtle message.

Good news for NANCY MACE …  but and incredibly bad sign for Lt. Governor Pamela Evette who is in a distant 4th with 6% of the vote.  The Lt. Governor has led folks to believe she has TRUMP’s endorsement locked up.  Well, that claim did not seem believable at the time … and really doesn’t appear believable now.  When was the last time TRUMP endorsed someone in 4th place???  We can’t remember either.

Stay tuned … it is going to be a fun 2026 primary season!!!

Romans 13:1-2

Published

on

Governments and leaders are part of His sovereign plan, even if imperfect. Our leaders’ responsibility is to govern justly, as their authority is a divine trust. All authority is ultimately accountable to God. We always encourage and expect politicians and leaders on ANY level to act with integrity, knowing their role carries divine responsibility, and most importantly we urge ourselves and other citizens to hold leaders and their followers accountable to those ethical standards.

Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted.”

Romans 13:1-2

To repeat from last Sunday (HERE), our life choices have consequences. The meaningful decisions we make may not be the popular ones, often require efforts and sacrifice.

Happy Sunday!
