USC Gamecocks defeat UNC 38-21 to bring home the Dukes Mayo Bowl

Shane Beamer closes out first year with bowl win over UNC …

It was a year that exceeded expectations … something unique in Gamecock history … but first year coach head coach Shane Beamer brought home a 7-6 season.  #GoGamecocks!!!

But the question on most peoples mind …

… what the heck is the Duke’s Mayo Bowl?

We all generally recall there is college football bowl game in Charlotte at Bank of America Stadium every year … actually since 2002.  The game itself currently features a matchup between a team from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and a team from either the Southeastern Conference (SEC) or the Big Ten Conference.

Originally commissioned as the Queen City Bowl, the bowl game has undergone several name changes due to changes in sponsorship, which have included Continental Tire (2002–2004), Meineke Car Care Center (2004–2010), department store chain Belk (2011–2019), and currently C.F. Sauer Company through its Duke’s Mayonnaise brand (2020–present).

We love Duke’s Mayo and we love Gamecock Football … at least one is always good.

Congratulations Gamecock Fans … and here’s to 2022 … Happy New Year!!!
