We always TEACH … where there is a will, there is a way … and that is being proven out right now in the SC Senate.
First … remember when leadership at the SC Statehouse REFUSED to call the legislature back into session following HURRICAINE HELENE? Literally one of the most devastating hurricanes in history to roll through South Carolina … and “they” are too busy to come back into session and help the citizens of our state.
Step one in all of this is to realize our elected officials don’t care about the citizens … but they do care about BIG MONEY … and they will move heaven & earth to take care of their BIG MONEY donors … and do nothing for YOU!!!
We learned that first hand about Senator Shane Massey in our “real” school choice fight … he picked $$$ over K-12 kids with special needs … and we have no reason to think he has had a change of heart … quite the opposite … and his actions over the past two days seems to have proven just that.
Massey Pulling Out All the Stops for BIG MONEY!!!
We knew following S244 would be a perfect learning example / case study (HERE) … and that has proven out.
Last Thursday, Senate Majority Leader Shane Massey (R – Edgefield) lost his vote 25 to 19 … and said “We are DONE. It’s OVER.“ (HERE) On Tuesday, Massey “carried over” his S244 – which he had pulled out all his tricks to get the bill on SPECIAL ORDER. You don’t do that “if” you have the votes.
By all accounts S244 was DEAD!!! (HERE)
But the statewide robo TEXT MESSAGES kept coming. Why??? These are not cheap … and who is paying for them??? The SC Senate Republican Caucus??? The guys that refused to go back into session after Hurricane Helene??? How about the SC Chamber of Commerce??? Aren’t those guys 1,000% in the bag for BIG BUSINESS … and affectionately known as the “Chamber of Compromise” … and not in a good way???
Who has the $$$ to resurrect S244 from the DEAD???
Today’s Main Event: S244 vs H3497
So what do The People want from the SC Senate??? A massive Tort Reform Bill like S244 that has far reaching implications no one understands and the BIG MONEY special interest are trying to push through as fast as possible???
Or do The People want a “targeted” bill like H3497 that fixes the liquor liability issue … the one issue that is impacting our small businesses … who can’t afford a massive advertising and robo Text Campaign like we are seeing from some group named the “SC Coalition for Lawsuit Reform 2025″???
[NOTE: And what is up with the “2025” at the end of their name??? Those guys, whomever they are, obviously plan on being back year after year and need to keep up with what was done in what DARK MONEY entity. #FollowTheMONEY!!!]
Let Your SENATOR Know!!!

It is not a hard choice. Do The People want S244, a massive omnibus tort reform bill using the “cover” of fixing liquor liability … which Senator Massey is trying to push through FAST … or do The People want a “targeted” H3497 that fixes just the liquor liability issue???
