Huge Court of Appeals Win – Davis v Leupp

How Did It Get This BAD?

Published

on

We have been surprised at the amount of interest in the October 6th Davis v. Leupp SC Court of Appeals article (HERE) … and how it relates to the desperate need for Judicial Reform here in South Carolina.

Well … guess what … WE WON!!!

Last Thursday the SC Court of Appeals issued it’s ruling that the case be REVERSED AND REMANDED. That simply means the ruling of the lower Court here in Greenville was overturned (i.e., reversed) and the case is being sent back (i.e., remanded) back to the lower court for further disposition.

So … now we get back to the original case against Mr. Nate Leupp … who happens to be the former Chairman of the Greenville County Republican Party (GCRP) … my immediate predecessor as Chairman of the GCRP … and interestingly enough the employee of Rep. Adam Morgan (R – Greenville), Chairman of the SC Freedom Caucus.

How Did It Get This BAD?

As many of you who reached out … including lawyers who understand the civil procedure issues … this appeal was a Law School 101 case. Many have asked “how in the heck was this case originally dismissed?” Well, IT IS THAT BAD IN OUR SOUTH CAROLINA COURTS!!!

Ask yourself … what are the ramifications? The trial court Judge who improperly dismissed the case is retiring next year. What does he care? Does he lose his retirement? Of course not. Will this ruling overturning his order impact a future re-appointment … NO!!! Years of delay … it seems the goal was achieve no matter what the outcome.

YES … JUDICIAL REFORM!!!

GOOD NEWS … JUDICIAL REFORM is going to be a hot topic in the 2024 SC Legislative Session. South Carolina is one of two states that allows it’s legislators to pick our judges. This is not just a criminal issue … it is civil as well … so no half measures … only FULL JUDICIAL REFORM!!!

And guess what … 9 of the 16 Solicitors in South Carolina … Republicans & Democrats … wrote an unprecedented letter (see HERE) about it just YESTERDAY!!!

There is so much more the come, but it is happening … so stay tuned as we dig deeper … share with you more examples … and keep pushing!!!

Galatians 5:1 & 13

Published

on

As we celebrate today’s rededication of our beloved nation, let’s reflect on the profound words of Galatians 5:1 and 13.

What a timely reminder of the real foundation of liberty!

True freedom is far more than the rights we cherish – it is both a sacred blessing and a solemn responsibility to live rightly, to stand firm in faith, to honor our families, and to serve one another humbly in love.

May this day fill your hearts with peace and renewed strength, and may today mark a powerful, blessed recommitment of our nation to liberty under God.

Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage… For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

Galatians 5:1 & 13

We celebrate our beautiful mothers today! Make sure to express your gratitude, honor and love to ANY mother in your life! Their hands have built the foundations of our families, and their “works at the city gate”, their leadership, advocacy, and tireless defense of our values, shape the future of our state.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

Psalm 37:12-13

Published

on

The heat of the June primaries is here … but take heart! God is not worried. He is not pacing anxiously. He laughs at the wicked, not in cruelty, but in sovereign confidence, because He sees the full picture and knows the end of every story.

Friends, we are called to stand on the side of righteousness: truth, freedom, strong testimonies, and common sense. When attacks come, when words are twisted, or when the pressure rises, remember our job is not to match their anger or fear their schemes. Our job is to keep doing what is right, walk with integrity, and trust the One who holds tomorrow.

The plots of man are temporary. God’s purposes for our nation, our state, and our community will stand. Keep your heads high, your hearts steady, and your knees bent in prayer. Greater is He who is with us than any opposition we face.

To repeat from last Sunday (HERE), rise above the noise. When we are challenged, our strength lies not in reacting to our critics, but in remaining immovable in our convictions and on the right side of issues.

Happy Sunday!

The Joe Kernell Employment Contracts – PART 1

Where there is a WILL, there is a WAY.

Published

on

OK friends … this one is a homework assignment.

Joe Kernell has served as Greenville County Administrator since 2004. Over that time, he has become one of the most controversial figures in local Greenville politics. Despite repeated calls over the years—if not the past decade—to “make a change,” Kernell remains in place.

So what’s going on?

The 2024 County Council elections brought significant turnover, with four new members (out of twelve total) campaigning – at least in part – on removing Kernell. Yet, just before those new members were sworn in, his contract was renewed on December 3, 2024.

Then it happened again.

On January 20, 2026, Kernell’s contract was extended for an additional 18 months—reportedly as a “final” extension. Voters were told Council had no real option but to approve the extension.

But does that actually make sense?

Remember: Watch what they DO, not what they SAY.

So here’s the assignment:

Below are the employment contracts for Kernell dating back to 2006. Many of you have legal or human resources backgrounds. Take a close look and tell us what you see.

Is there – or was there – a way out of these contracts?

We’re told the answer is no. That Council’s hands were tied.

But as we often say: where there is a WILL, there is a WAY.

So the real question becomes:

Was there simply no will to replace Kernell?

Send us your thoughts: team@mySCGOP.com
