Yesterday we introduced you to the revolutionary organizational concept of ZONES & PRECINCT ELECTION-ZONES. (HERE). It is some “heavy” stuff to learn and process .. but it is groundbreaking stuff as well. #LearnIT!!!
So today we have an easy lesson … let’s introduce you to the SC State Seal.
THE SC STATE SEAL:
On March 26, 1776, the Provincial Congress of South Carolina set up an independent government, electing John Rutledge, President.
On April 2, 1776, the President and Privy Council were authorized by Resolution of the General Assembly “to design and cause to be made a Great Seal of South Carolina.”
The principal designers were William Henry Drayton and Arthur Middleton.
President Rutledge used the Seal (HERE & HERE) for the first time on May 22, 1777.
The current seal is made up of two elliptical areas, linked by branches of the palmetto tree.
The left oval is dominated by a tall palmetto tree with a fallen and broken oak tree at the base. This scene represents the battle fought on June 28, 1776, between defenders of the unfinished fort on Sullivan’s Island, and the British Fleet. The standing palmetto represents the victorious defenders, and the fallen oak is the British Fleet. Banded together on the palmetto with the motto Quis separabit? (“Who will separate [us]?”), are 12 spears that represent the other original 12 states of the Union. Beneath that is enscrolled another of the alternate state mottoes, “Meliorem Lapsa Locavit” (“Having Fallen, She Has Set Up a Better One”) with the date of 1776. Surrounding the image, at the top, is “South Carolina”, and below, is Animis opibusque parati (“Prepared in mind and resources”).
The right oval on the seal depicts the Roman goddess Spes (Latin for “Hope”) walking on the beach littered with weapons at dawn. The goddess grasps a branch of laurel as the sun rises behind her. Below her image is her name, Spes, and over the image is the motto Dum spiro spero, meaning “While I breathe, I hope”.
TWO (2) SC STATE MOTTOS:
South Carolina has two mottos surround the two ovals.
On the left is “Animis Opibusque Parati”, meaning Prepared in Mind and Resources.
On the right, “Dum Spiro Spero”, meaning While I Breathe I Hope.
PRIOR VERSIONS OF THE SEAL:
Old State Seal: The above clear image is not the first version of the seal. Below is a copy of one of the first seals of South Carolina as it appeared on March 28, 1785 in the nameplate of the State Gazette of South Carolina, a Charleston newspaper. The paper was published by Ann Timothy, the state’s printer.

We all know about the Drew McKissick shenanigans at the SCGOP State Convention back on May 3rd, 2025 with the “sneak attack” on the Pickens County Republican Party (PCRP) and the ultimate failure to seat the 24 (anti-DREW) PCRP State Delegates on fabricated charges. It really is dumbfounding … but in reality just another example in a long line of examples since the MAGA America First insurgency began in ReOrg 2021 with the outright fraud in Greenville (HERE & HERE).
Well, it is ongoing with the SCGOP … as they say, the gift that keeps giving insofar as exposing the hypocrisy and outright corruption withing the SCGOP State Leadership & State Executive Committee itself.
Specifically – the SCGOP State Executive Committee voted ( 32 to 18 ) at its quarterly meeting on June 7th, 2025, that the Pickens County Republican Party would be “suspended” until the next quarterly meeting in September. The PCRP elected leadership can no longer use the PCRP name, website, email system, bank account … even with important elections coming up in November … and the PCRP can’t meet … but somehow (even though they can’t meet?) they are supposed to come up with a “plan” to present to the SCGOP State Executive Committee in September on how to fix the fabricated problem.
Basically Pickens was “unorganized” on June 7th (without notice) – even though the SCGOP State Executive Committee did not have the 75% of the votes needed to unorganize PCRP under the “new” Rule 16(b) which was ramrodded through in a special called SCGOP convention in July 30th, 2022.
The good news is the former PCRP Chair, Bob Fetterly (who did not run, nor had he planned to run, for re-election in 2025) has published a video response to the SCGOP charges that he arbitrarily capped the number of county delegates to 400 – a bizarre charge by the SCGOP. Bob did a great job laying out the details … and it now appears that “if” there were any “Rules Violations” … it was really the SCGOP itself that violated it’s own Rules.

The opposition hates it so much … and we temporarily had to move it to a local DENNY’S restaurant … because they actually filed a ZONING / Business Use violation as we were not authorized to have public meetings inside our HQ (outside is OK) as we are just formally permitted as a “business office” AND a PODCAST STUDIO!!! Yes, we are formally permitted at our HQ as a PodCast Studio … so guess what we can do!!!
We are now LIVESTREAMING the meeting not just for our local Greenville Friends … but also statewide (and worldwide as we have had members watch from Europe & even from a transatlantic cruise).
