SLED Reports – How To Pull Criminal Records
Remember, nothing is what it seems in politics!
Today we are going to introduce how to pull a SC State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) Criminal Background Check.
WHY DO YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS? Not everyone in politics is who they seem. Some … more than you might suspect … really do have criminal backgrounds that would surprise you. We have talked about Corporate Psychopathy (HERE) and how it is pervasive in politics as well … so checking facts is always a good idea.
Remember, nothing is what it seems in politics!!!
CHIEF MARK KEEL
CHIEF MARK KEEL: First of all, for those that are not aware, our leader of SLED is Chief Mark Keel. He has served as Chief of the S.C. Law Enforcement Division (SLED) since July 1, 2011. Aside from a brief stint as Director of the S. C. Department of Public Safety from June 17, 2008 – June 30, 2011, Chief Keel has served at SLED since August 31, 1979.
As our states Chief Law Enforcement Officer, you will hear Chief Keel’s name often in political circles. [CHIEF KEEL BIO]

SLED Citizens Access to Criminal Histories (CATCH):
First, it should be a relatively simple system, but there are a significant number of “Terms and Conditions” you should be aware of first. It is all on the landing page, and we won’t repeat them all here … but read them before going forward … in fact you have to before proceeding (HERE).
Second, realize there is a non-refundable fee, so if the person does not have a public criminal record, you do not get your money back.
FEE: $25 (plus $1 online convenience fee)
DISCOUNTED FEE: $8 for non-profits (must have an account)
Third, the minimum information required for a SLED Criminal Background Check is:
- Last name
- First name
- Date of Birth
- Gender
