School Choice (S 285) – January 9th, 2024
The #1 legislative issue coming up … “real” School Choice!
Tuesday January 9th, 2024 … ingrain that date in your mind as you would with all of our primary and general election dates. Why? Because that is the date that our SC General Assembly (House & Senate) go back into session.
We have exactly three months (as of yesterday) before the 2024 SC Legislative Session begins at the statehouse in Columbia. Three months to get our ducks in a row … and three months to get legislators (and others) all on the record for the 2024 LEGISLATIVE AGENDA.
The #1 legislative issue coming up … “real” School Choice!
School Choice & Free Markets are both major planks of the SC Republican Platform. Every Republican campaigns as a supporter of School Choice. The current South Carolina K-12 private school choice program is rated as the Nation’s worst. The 100% government run ESA (S 39) which was passed earlier this year won’t go into effect until the fall of 2024 school year … everyone expects it to be be sued & found unconstitutional (again) … and who wants another big government run program in the first place?
And best of all … legislators in the SC House have “PROMISED” that S285 will be #1 first up, and #2 passed in the 2024 legislative session.
Well let’s document that … that should be fair, right?

Your SC House Rep?
WATCH WHAT THEY DO, NOT WHAT THEY SAY: Y’all want to know exactly “who” you legislator & other political influencers really are? What they really believe? If their campaign promises are worth anything … or if they are just another say one thing, do another politician?
Well the PACE / ACE Scholarship Bill (S285 … bill language & history HERE) will be the litmus test.
CALL TO ACTION: Ask your SC House Rep what their position is on S285 … “real” school choice … and let us know what they say. If you have never spoken with your SC House Rep before, now is your chance. Call them, discuss their position on S285, and ask them what they can do to make it happen … and ask them what they think you can do to make it happen.
You have to step into the fire at some point. Do if for the kids.

A “Win” No Matter What!
PASS = KIDS WIN: We really hope & pray S285 passes … #1 ASAP & #2 As-Is, with NO CHANGES. If it does, tons of K-12 kids & families all across South Carolina will have a newfound hope for the future. We will too as this battle has been going on for way to long and our faith in government and our elected officials (from top to bottom) is at an all-time low.
FAIL = GREAT AWAKENING: But if it does not pass … there will also be a victory … not for kids, but a sad victory in the fact that YOU ALL will have LEARNED the biggest lesson in politics. You all will be AWAKENED to something we have sadly witnessed over the past nearly 10 years … that you can’t trust elected officials, that they will lie to your face … that campaign promises are worth ZERO … that they are really only out for themselves and their monied special interest backers … not The People … and certainly not The Children. A good thing to learn in an ELECTION YEAR!
Let’s pray S285 passes and KIDS WIN!!!
BONUS: When you go through this educational process, watch “who” opposes the passage of S285. Watch “who” puts personalities ahead of the kids. Watch “who” wants to make changes to the bill … claiming they want to expand it … but really it is to kill it! Watch “who” would rather see kids suffer, than for certain people to have some perceived “political” win. They might not openly oppose it … but they will subtlety oppose behind the scenes … and their silence in public will be deafening.
We are talking KIDS here … mainly K-12 kids with special needs & low-income and other disadvantaged kids. “Who” would not support helping these kids??? What Republican would not support helping these kids???

No, we don’t encourage “betting” … but we do encourage following the BETTING ODDS (aka “Predication Markets”). Polls can be easily manipulated … and these prediction markets can be as well (IS THAT WHY RUSSELL FRY DROPPED 10 POINTS LAST NIGHT?) … but when people have to put their money where their mouth is, it is a lot harder to fake.

It is a serious question as one thing we have observed over the years is that grassroots conservatives often ONLY WANT TO COMPLAIN!!! Why? Because WINNING is hard work. WINNING takes dicipline. Winning is all about ACTION, ACTION, ACTION … and WINNERS never quit (while quitters never win). Folks, this us America’s 250th. Our founding fathers riskeds and often sacraficed it all – lives, fortunes and sacred honor!!! Sure, they complained, they fought with each other, they were scared, tired, and beat down … but they never quit. They ORGANIZED, ORGANIZED, ORGANIZED … and they WON. The American Revolutionary War lasted for 8 years, 4 months, and 15 days. It began on April 19, 1775, and ended on September 3, 1783. Rome was not created in a day, and some have been fighting this fight for more than 8 years, 4 months, and 15 days … but WE DON’T QUIT.
Sometimes “tough love” among family and friends is necessary to make us stronger. Now lets get on and win this thing NOW. #ReOrg2027!!!
