Jim DeMint, Ellen Weaver … & Tim Scott … A Long Term Plan?

A legislator asked us the other day what our “beef” was with Jim DeMint & Ellen Weaver?
We don’t necessarily have a “beef” with anyone … but we do believe people should be informed as to exactly what supposedly conservative leaders DO as opposed to what they SAY.

We replied to this legislator with a simple question …
“Why would Jim DeMint & Ellen Weaver recommend that the SC Department of Revenue run the SC private school choice program?“
The real question is why would anyone on the planet … much less Jim DeMint & Ellen Weaver … recommend the SC Department of Revenue do anything … much less run a private school choice program?!?!?
Jim DeMint & Ellen Weaver’s Palmetto Promise Institute in May 2016 published a “Legislative Analysis” that gave South Carolina the NATION’S first 100% government run tax credit scholarship program.
It remains the Nation’s only 100% government run tax credit scholarship program … and it is rated the Nation’s worst rated private school choice program.
So why did Jim DeMint & Ellen Weaver recommend the SC Department of Revenue run the private school choice program?
Simple … #FollowTheMoney!!!
Our experience is that Jim DeMint & Ellen Weaver have been staging this financial boondoggle for their “monied special interest” backers for a very long time.
When we were first randomly introduced to Ellen Weaver in early 2014, we could tell them she was “cold”. We were novices in the political world and we were just here to make School Choice in South Carolina successful.
Ellen Weaver & Jim DeMint’s Palmetto Promise Institute had a much different plan than we did … and it all had to do with MONEY, and A LOT OF IT!!! By our analysis, just with the relatively small initial ESA bill (S 39) … over $183 MILLION net-present-value!!! (HERE).

When you are hurting kids … especially K-12 kids with “special needs … and you are doing it apparently just for money … you need to be exposed, and that is our goal with Jim DeMint & Ellen Weaver.
You know, on second thought … maybe we do have a “beef” with Jim DeMint & Ellen Weaver!!! Maybe you should too.

P.S. And yes, we are saddened to report that Senator Tim Scott is intimately involved … and it is very disappointing.
If we were wrong, why won’t his Office return our calls … and why was his SC Upstate Director (and her husband) harvested Form 1 Ballots in the 2021 Greenville County Republican Party ReOrg “fraud”?
Senator Scott … if you truly cared about the kids … you would want to solve the SC School Choice Problem … something we think you could do with a phone call.
